Herbert VanBrink

COOPERSTOWN ? Mr. Herbert (Tim) VanBrink, 82, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

He was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Salt Springville, the son of Frank and Mertie (Perkins) VanBrink.

On Dec. 19, 1953, he married Jean Vroman in Cooperstown, she survives.

Mr. VanBrink was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1942-1946 in North Africa and France.

He worked for S.S. Harrison Fuel Oil and Springfield Central School before retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 0579 in Cooperstown.

Survivors besides his wife, Jean VanBrink, of Cooperstown, include two daughters and sons-in-law, Robert and Shannon Prime of Richfield Springs, and James and Susan Wengenack of Duanesburg; two sons, Frank VanBrink of Somerville, N.J., and Bruce VanBrink of Cooperstown; a daughter-in-law, Barbara VanBrink of Pleasant Brook; sisters, Hazel and her husband, Charles Moyer of VanHornesville, and Marguerite Schorer of Ilion; seven grandchildren, Todd and Nathan Prime, Ashley, Courtney, and Teddy VanBrink, Jared and Alissa Wengenack; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Lyman Johnson, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Cherry Valley, officiating. Mr. VanBrink will be placed in the Ottman Funeral Home vault to await spring burial in the Springfield Center Cemetery, Springfield Center.

There will be no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. VanBrink's memory may be made to the Springfield First Responders, or the Cooperstown Emergency Squad.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
